Uses

Sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim, two antibiotics, are combined in this drug. It is employed in the treatment of several bacterial illnesses (such as middle ear, urine, respiratory, and intestinal infections). Another purpose for it is to both prevent and cure a specific kind of pneumonia (pneumocystis-type). Children under the age of two months shouldn’t use this drug owing to the possibility of major adverse effects. Only specific infections are treated by this medicine. For viral infections, it is ineffective (such as flu). Every antibiotic’s efficacy may be reduced by unnecessary or improper usage.

Use of Bactrim DS

As prescribed by your doctor, consume this drug orally along with a full glass of water (8 ounces/240 millilitres). If you have nausea, drink milk or eat something first. Unless your doctor tells you differently, make sure to stay hydrated while taking this medicine to reduce the unlikely chance of kidney stones developing. Your medical condition and treatment response will determine your dosage.

Use this antibiotic at regular intervals for optimal results. Take this prescription at the same time(s) every day to make it easier for you to remember.

Even if symptoms go away after a few days, keep taking this medicine until the entire advised dosage is gone. If you stop it too soon, germs may be able to continue to multiply, which may result in the infection relapsing.
