Pampore: Senior Superintendent of police for Awantipora police district, Tahir Saleem on Wednesday visited Pampore to pay condolences to two families who lost their daughters in a road accident on Pampore-Khrew road.
He along with SDPO, SHO and other police officials visited house of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat of Tulbagh and Nazir Ahmad Pandit of Namlabal areas of Pampore.
He expressed his sympathy with the bereaved families.
He told the families he was very upset and moved after learning about the accident and tragic death of two teenage girls.
The accident occurred on yesterday evening near Tulbagh area in which three teenage girls including two sisters were injured . They were shifted to SMHS Srinagar where
One among them, Nazeela Rafiq, 19 daughter of Mohammad Rafiq Bhat succumbed on Tuesday evening.
Today morning, another injured, Tabin Nazir, 18, daughter of Nazir Ahmad Pandit too succumbed.
The SSP said that preliminary investigation suggest that driver of a private vehicle was driving rashly and hit three teen pedestrians.
He said that the Alto car has skidded off the road and rolled into adjoining saffron fields around 100 feet from the spot of accident.
He said the driver has been taken into custody and his vehicle has been seized.
“We will thoroughly investigate the case and invoke stringent clauses of relevant law against the driver, ” he said.
The victim families urged the SSP to consider this incident as murder and not merely an accident.
He assured them that law will take its own course.
